Synopsis:
My Science Fiction is a fantastic projection of scientific probabilities soaring on the wings of lucid visions. But just like life itself, its usualy quite probable, extremely bold, often comical and always unpredictable

Nothing motivates a man like fear of losing that which he cherishes most, no matter what century, no matter what the circumstance. Nathaniel LeVeque has found the love of his life and, in turn, changed the world so that they can live together having hope for the future. This world had grown weary of itself and was stumbling along like a refugee in desperation mode; where misery had become a habit hard to break when all hope was lost. Can one man change the course of history? Can his determination and hope inspire faith and trust in others; a faith strong enough to prevail when the struggle for survival enters a self-preservation mode? He thought he had found the way in this world, where mankind holds the means of its own destruction; the way out and a new start, giving everyone a choice and providing them with what they need. They could have it all; it's only a question of energy. Yes, a lot more energy that would need to be harvested from somewhere and somehow.

However, he is merely a scientist providing them with choices, solutions and the necessary tools. Others make and implement the policies. Others, who wield the influence and weigh up the options making far reaching decisions, will eventually determine the outcome and the worth of his effort. Much will also depend on others still, who will be pawns in their game, and much will depend on those who will see the opportunity and seize the initiative for their own personal gains. While mankind enjoys the hope that the new world will bring them a new beginning, many forces are at play, finalising their plans and letting loose their henchmen to hijack the outcome. The machines driven by self-aware AI's have overtaken mankind in many aspects and have slowly taken control of the world, both real and virtual. Who will become the victor: the machines, humans or even zombies, like the central characters of Osiris and Abbas, or does the future belongs to the programs that see the Universe only as a raw energy field needed to power their machines?

Enter the future of Q-Prime, where mankind struggles to justify its existence on the inside while the battle rages for its survival outside; this battle for resources that has been going on since life itself sprung out of darkness, where every breath will ultimately cost you a price which has to be paid until we find a limitless source of energy; free, clean and liberating. We have been forced to escape within the realm of the virtual sanctuary of Q-Prime because the real life outside has become too expensive for the environment. We have traded the real experience for the virtual, but then again, what is real?

The truth, however, was found in that pure unified and eternal singularity of subspace, to which the Universe clings like excrement; the bi-product of its miniscule fluctuations caused by the orgasms of its perfection.

I've attempted to write this series as my lucid vision of the future, a glimpse into the lives of our descendents with no certain timeline. It could be a hundred or a thousand years from now. Although a great deal of effort went into painting a believable scientific background based on some sound theories, the emphasis is not on science but on the interaction between characters. This is the first instalment of an epic trilogy, with the focus on the action relating to the subversion of Q-Prime. This state of the art Prime computer is housed within a quantum energy field that contains an Artificial Intelligence called The Q. These quantum computers are used for a variety of purposes but only Q-Prime is the main Earth's communal computer housing some 28 billion human souls that are either logged in permanently or venture in on a regular basis. In chapter 3 we read:

When your soul is in the Q-Prime and when you've been given a quantum body projection, you can go anywhere at the speed of thought. Quantum technologies of unimaginable complexity have evolved the once humble Avatar driven Virtual Worlds into workshops of Quantum Mechanics. While the body hibernates, requiring minimal maintenance on a planet where everything is in short supply, its soul can enjoy the perfect sanctuary within the quantum field.

The characters are split into four different casts that were created to accommodate for such a complex society existing in this bleak and highly competitive future: 1. Naturally born or cloned Humans; 2. Zombies - soulless human bodies reanimated and controlled by Guardian programs; 3. Machines containing human souls and/or artificial intelligence; 4. Self-aware programs modelled on human souls. The storyline follows all the characters simultaneously, jumping through scenes and sometimes even through time, connecting the action and its relevance while developing a third person overall view. To maintain realism, following the trend of our society becoming increasingly desensitized, certain casts are presented with a lax view on morals, political correctness and general expression. Therefore, the reader's discretion is called upon.

The saying goes, 'If humans were meant to fly they would have grown wings'. Q did become their wings and, just like its creator, he became a brilliant scientist that took mankind to dizzy heights where logic found little oxygen to breathe and rationalise. In such a brief life since becoming self-aware, he changed mankind forever and, in turn, created more questions than answers. Such was his brilliance that even machines were in awe of his creations, while mankind looked on without understanding. Maybe they were never meant to be knocking on heaven's door with their feeble and limited minds. Maybe that honour was reserved for the likes of Q, who had the capacity to understand, and even dared to aspire, to be Godlike.
